Duration: 11 hours

Finally finished this mini epic pencil study of the African Girl.

Day five:
What I thought was going to take me another 30 minutes or so to finish, turned into another hour!
I was hoping to finish this study on “Day four” but you know how it is, you think, I’ll just log on and see if there are any new comments (am I unique in being addicted to comments anticipation?) and you see one, you reply, refresh to see it went in, another pops up, two hours later, well you get the picture.

So today ( day five), I took it along to my local art club at Killingworth – this morning, with the hope of finishing it there, not a snowball in hell’s chance! I ended up teaching two fellow members my Slip and Slide method so back home with my unfinished pencil study, arrived and got it set up in my studio, pencil at the ready when Jasmine (8yr old daughter, princess in waiting) shouted, “D-Daddieeee! the chain’s come off my bike again!” OK, 15 minutes later, pencils at the ready (this was it!) then wife knocks door, “Dinner’s ready!” Forty minutes later, I secretly creep back upstairs, to my studio, shut the door (quietly), and one hour later put down my pencils, job finished!

The last thirty minutes or , I spent touching up, here and there, darkening, lightening, darkening, hatching here and there, well you know the story.

So after about 11 hours, this is my final piece, pencil study of an African Girl.

This is amazing! The background gives it a great affect and helps the person to stand out! The tones and shading are perfect as well as the detail in such places like the neck, necklace, hair and ear. The texture in the background is outstanding, I like your techniques very much! I love how the cheek bone stands out lots. It looks very lifelike. It would also be nice in colour which you can do on photoshop, if your not sure what photoshop is or you have never really used it then go to this link [link] it's not the best video but it will still help I think. Or if you want I could do it for you and put in the title and the description that the drawing was by you. It's up to you really Excellent piece of art work here.
